There is a prayer without words, the heart beats are a prayer, tears are a prayer , the feeling of God's presence are a prayer .

Acceptable Repentance

H. G. Bishop Moussa

“Those on whom You dawned with the light of Your love could no longer bear to live among men, but discarded every human love and became strangers to everything in their quest for the beloved. They abandoned their joys and went off in search for the beloved with tears.

They wept when they found themselves in the way, undeserving of the beauty of the beloved. They divested themselves of all the pleasures of the flesh and despised all human enjoyment. They loved weariness and sadness so that the heart of the beloved might become tender towards them.”

+ “These were drunk with love and when they heard : “Blessed are they who mourn now”, they did not cease weeping.”

+ “ Oh Thou Love Divine, You raised the soul until You seated it in the light of its Creator. You purified it until it resembled its Lord, and the ferocious beasts became tame toward it, for they saw in it the image of its Creator and never stopped breathing its scent.”

+ It was not only the beasts that submitted to it, but the devils also were afraid when they saw the soul surrounded by love and slunk away when they perceived in it the image of the sovereignty of God.” (the Spiritual Elder).
I could find no more wonderful words, dear reader, to express:

  1. The Meaning of Repentance
  2. The Effects of Repentance:
  3. The Glory of Repentance:

The Lord be with you!

My Lord Jesus Christ,
My spirit is poor when it hangs on to sin and rejects You!
When it relies on self and sells You!
When it resorts to self and acts without You!
The depths of my soul tell me everyday that sin is destructive, and sins control man.
There is nothing that can satisfy me ....... except You!
There is no one that can make my life happy ....... except You !
Grant, O Lord, that I might repent!
That I might turn my back to the mirage .... and the dust!
That I may turn to You with all my heart
Placing my treasure in heaven where You are, O sole source of happiness on this earth!

The Cross

Why do we make the sign of the cross from left to right, but the Greek Orthodox do it from right to left?

It is just a matter of local tradition. In our eastern mentality, the left is considered the place of darkness and dishonour, and the right is the place of honour and righteousness. So when we make the sign of the cross we
the righteous souls are waiting for the day of judgement. The fourth heaven is the Heaven of heavens, which is the “Heavenly Jerusalem”; to this place the righteous souls will proceed to on the Day of Resurrection.

Abba Shenouda the Archimandrite

"Now that you have met Abba Pachom of Koinonia, I want you to meet Abba Shenouda the Archimandrite". The angel pointed towards him and said, "He was born in Sohag, and at age nine his parents sent him to his maternal uncle Pigol, abbot of the West of the Nile monastery, near Sohag.

He lived there and learned how to fast, pray and led an ascetic life. He was loved by everyone and became a successful monk. After his uncle departed, the monks chose him as his successor. He lead them in an order of solitude, laying down several rules for monasticism. He remained abbot for sixty-six years. Abba Shenouda the Archimandrite was a spiritual father to five thousand monks and two thousand nuns. When he completed his good endeavors, he fell gravely sick and departed at the age of one hundred and twenty.

Q&A for youth
Q 1: What does it mean when Christ says, “To look at a woman lustfully you have already committed adultery” (Matthew 5:28) ?

The point here is that it is wrong to look in order to fulfil some kind of lust, or feed some sort of lust, because if this is the intention, you have already committed adultery in your heart, and eventually you will even commit the sin. But if you are strong, even if you will look, and feel any desire, you will have self control, and making the sign of the Cross, you will overcome. It is natural to have these desires, but through the power and grace of God, you will keep yourself holy at the same time

Q 2: How can there be understanding between two partners?

Understanding comes through having a spiritual home, and by praying together. It is also important to have a spirit of love and humility and self sacrifice, when dealing with each other, and always have the Lord abiding between you.
